In September 1921, Audi became the first German car manufacturer to present a mass production car in Germany, the Audi Type K, became one of the best selling six cylinder vehicles in the Europe and put Audi's name on the map. Fast forward to 1980, Audi released the Quattro, a four-wheel drive (4WD) turbocharged car that went on to win rallies and races worldwide. Audi and their Quattro Drive Line is considered one of the most significant technological advancements ever seen in rally cars. Audi's heritage in Rally Car Racing only tells half the story, as the German engineering powerhouse has also spent time in the winner's circle for iconic motorsports events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Audi's racing pedigree has given birth to some magnificent road cars and exotics in recent years. The Audi R8 / Lamborghini Gallardo are just two examples. In 2003 Audi designed the engine for Bentley's Speed 8 that finished Le Mans in the top two positions. The Audi R8 took the third. Company of Cars is passionate about cars and the technology behind them.
